Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe Drive (Santa Fe Drive & Kalamath Street between Alameda & 12th Avenues) features one of the major collections of art galleries in the United States. There are a huge number of art galleries contained within a small area, all within easy walking distance.

The most popular time to visit the Art District on Santa Fe is during the first Friday art walk. On the first Friday of every month, a crowd of huge proportion descends on the Art District, beginning around 5:30pm. The crowd can be overwhelming, as can the search for parking, but inconveniences aside, the Santa Fe Art Walk is a great way to spend a Friday evening.

Award winning author and inspirational speaker, Mary Catherine Carwile, weaves stories that touch people’s hearts. Becoming a flight attendant at age 56 was just one of many “jumping off a cliff” experiences Mary has had. Being one of those fearful flyers, it was a huge leap for her to begin a new career at 35,000 feet above the earth.

In her first book, Mary tells stories based on her own experiences with passengers. Heartstrings at 35,000 Feet has a Chicken Soup for the Soul feel. Mary can boast that several of her stories have been published in the Chicken Soup series.

Heart Strings and Pink Ribbons, Mary’s second book, tells of her breast cancer journey, just months after separating from her husband.

In Mary’s presentation, “Soaring Above The Turbulence,” you’ll be brought into her world of flying and of overcoming both the turbulence in the air and in your life.

There is laughter, for sure, but don’t forget the tissue. You may find yourself wiping tears away as Mary speaks.

Spectator viewing for the Parade is free all along the two-mile route, as Downtown Denver’s skyline provides a stunning background for the lights and sounds of the parade.

However, during the parade, these lines will be temporarily suspended on Stout and California between 14th and 18th Streets, and passengers will need to get off at the Theatre District/Convention Center or 18th & Stout stations. 16th Street Mall Shuttle
With FREE shuttle service, you can park anywhere in Downtown and your destination is only a short ride away. Mall shuttles will not operate during the one-hour parade, but will be running before and after the parade.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks Downtown Denver

The sky will once again sparkle over the 16th Street Mall this New Year’s Eve with the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Downtown, presented by the Downtown Denver Partnership. Co-sponsors of the display are VISIT DENVER and the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District. As part of the Partnership’s Winter in the City program, the two spectacular fireworks shows will occur at 9 p.m. and Midnight, taking place simultaneously at two undisclosed sites along the 16th Street Mall. It is recommended that viewers stand along the 16th Street Mall for optimal viewing.
